The Assessor's primary duty is to determine the value of all taxable and tax exempt Real and Personal Property for the purpose of equitable tax distribution throughout the Town of South Windsor. Real property is assessed at 70% of a base year of value established on the October 1, 2022 revaluation. Personal Property and Motor Vehicles are also assessed at 70% annually.
Our objectives are to provide South Windsor taxpayers with courteous and responsive service, and to maintain an equalized tax base according to State Statute and professional standards.
The 2023 Grand List was signed January 30, 2024
The 2023 Grand List Mill Rate will be set by the Town Council in May 2024.

Elderly Homeowners/ Totally Disabled Tax Relief Programs
Filing Period is between February 1, 2024 - May 15, 2024
If it is your year to reapply, we mailed a reminder letter in early February 2024. If you are reapplying or interested in applying for this program, you must meet the following requirements:
- Must be 65 years old (or older) by 12/31/2023
- Must have owned your home on 10/1/2023
- Must reside in your South Windsor home

Motor Vehicle Information:
The Connecticut State Legislature passed Bill# HB-5506 with a Mill Rate cap of 32.46 mills for the 2021 Motor Vehicle Grand List. The Town of South Windsor Town Council adopted the 32.46 Mill Rate Cap on Motor Vehicles on May 9, 2022.
Remember, if a registered vehicle has been disposed of, please be sure to notify our office. You can submit the proper paperwork (bill of sale, canceled plate receipt, junked receipt, trade-in information, etc.) a few different ways:
- Through our Webform which can be found under the "Motor Vehicle Bill Adjustment" tab to the left of the screen.
- Emailed to: Assessor@southwindsor-ct.gov
- If you have no computer access you may mail to: 1540 Sullivan Ave, South Windsor CT 06074, Attention: Assessor's Office
